About Toollapse

Toollapse is a free collection of tools for everyday file jobs — merging and compressing PDFs, converting documents, resizing images, building a resume, reading text out of a scan — that run entirely inside your browser. Your files are never uploaded. They're read and processed on your own device, and they stay there.

The problem we set out to fix

If you've ever needed to shrink a PDF or convert a document, you know the drill. You search for a tool, land on a site that asks you to upload your file to a server you'll never see, wait in a queue, then get nudged toward an account, a subscription, or a watermark you have to pay to remove. For a quick, one-off task that's a lot of friction — and if the document is a contract, an ID, a payslip or a medical form, it's a lot of trust to hand a stranger.

We thought that was backwards. The tools should come to your files, not the other way around.

How Toollapse works

Modern browsers are far more capable than most people realise. Using technologies like WebAssembly and the standard file APIs, a web page can now do serious work — parsing a PDF, re-encoding an image, running optical character recognition — right on your machine, with no server round-trip. Toollapse is built on exactly that. When you drop a file into one of our tools:

• It never leaves your device. There's no upload step. The processing happens locally, in the browser tab.
• It's fast. With no upload-and-download wait, most jobs finish the moment you click the button.
• It works without an account. No sign-up, no email, no daily caps, no watermarks.

You don't have to take our word for it, either. On any tool you can open your browser's network panel (or simply switch off your Wi-Fi after the page has loaded) and watch a conversion complete anyway. What we believe

• Privacy by default. The most private way to handle a file is to never send it anywhere. That's the whole design.
• Genuinely free. Every tool is free and unlimited. We're supported by unobtrusive ads rather than subscriptions, so the tools stay open to everyone.
• No dark patterns. No fake "processing" delays, no bait-and-switch paywalls, no forced accounts.
• Honest about limits. In-browser conversion is excellent, but it isn't magic — where a tool has trade-offs, we tell you plainly in its help text and in our guides.
